About the club
Our story
We're based at the Browns Bay Bowling Club, we run a competition most months of the season, and Wednesday club night (Wednesdays, 4:30-6:00pm) with the meat raffles is the beating heart of the whole operation.
Our results archive reaches back to 2019 and the club was well established long before that. The same names keep turning up in it season after season, which tells you most of what you need to know about the place. The 4 Grander grudge match against Poenamo has been running since 2019 too, and we've held the trophy since 2022.
How we fish
Our competitions are judged by length in centimetres, not weight. You photograph your catch on the official club measure mat and email the photo in - that's the whole entry. No weigh station, no chilly bin full of fish that only mattered for the scales.
It means a fish can be measured, photographed and released to fight another day. Plenty of our best fish each season swim off after their moment of fame. We fish to New Zealand rules and regulations, rod and line only, and we're proud that "ethical events with measure" is how members describe us.
Who the club is for
Everyone who fishes, and everyone who'd like to. Boaties and land-based anglers. Newcomers who've never entered a comp. Kids - there are dedicated Junior Snapper and Junior Kahawai categories (14 and under), and a Women's Snapper category too. Family membership covers the whole household, dependents up to 20.

Where and when we meet
